Hey everyone, coming off a very inspiring experience at Cypher for Change in Whitehorse, thanks to Andrea Simpson-Fowler, Sami Slinkz Elkout and GWS, I want to let you know that we will be hosting a national 1on1 battle in Halifax as part of the Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival. Along with the battle there will be many cyphers, workshops and discussions on how we can bring our scenes closer together to build a strong, national community, with various guests who will share their knowledge.
The Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival will also include live graffiti, MC, DJ and beatboxing battles and a free outdoor concert and will be taking place Sept. 8-11. The prize for the 1on1 is $2000 with other prizes for the cyphers. If you are interested in repping your province, please email

We will be choosing 16-24 bboys and bgirls from across Canada, including bboys/bgirls who are established in the national scene, community-builders and promising newcomers. Flights, accommodations and food will be covered for those flying here for a registration fee of $300. If you are traveling by car, accommodations, food and travel expenses will also be covered for a carload for $300. This means that all of your necessary expenses will be covered for the weekend for $300 for the opportunity to battle for at least $2000 cash and to take part in workshops and discussions on building our Canadian scene.
